Sunday Night
Review for Jeff’s show. What
a treat to get to see Jeff Marsh in his own show as part of the King of Normally,
many of us only get to see an Eta perform
one or two songs, either in competition or at an after hours
venue….so this was completely new for some of us. Jeff’s
jumpsuit “The Indian” was gorgeous. I always marvel at his attention to
detail with the beading, stones, belt, shoes and jewelry! I
remember thinking “WOW….. This guy is really talented”…..its good to be
reminded sometimes how many truly great Elvis tribute shows are going on in our
own backyards and support the guys whenever we can. Jeff
Marsh is one of those special guys….he helps out backstage at various festivals, organizes his own festival, performs and sews his own jumpsuits!!! Talk about multi tasking! Great
show Jeff! How about an encore? By Wendy King “CALL HIM MISTER ENERGY” In a
challenging display of administrative ability, Showmanship and unbridled talent
… Jeff Marsh pulled off a very successful “KING OF KITCHENER 2” at Kitchener’s
“Transylvania Club”. Jeff
orchestrated a smoothly-run Elvis Tribute Artist competition over the weekend
while at the same time delivering three evenings of excellent showcases as Rudy
Salerno and his Angels provided the music and various tribute artists provided
the singing. But Jeff
didn’t leave it at that. He also teamed
up with ETA Doug McKenzie of Shakespeare, Ontario in a hilarious send-up of THE
BLUES BROTHERS on the Friday showcase … an act so well received that the boys
were forced to reprise it on the Saturday evening. But wait …
there’s more! Prior to the distribution
of KING OF Jeff provided
variety in his music set with vintage rockers like “Mystery Train” and “A Big
Hunk O’ Love” featured alongside power ballads like “What Now My Love” and
“”Hurt”. Jeff is recognized as a
“precision” Elvis. He has studied hours of
existing Elvis concert videos, TV appearances and the movies in order to
accurately portray Elvis Presley as his fans saw him from the Fifties through
the Seventies. He was very smooth with
his use of his cape on “American Trilogy” and even emulated a backwards fall in
the finale of “Hurt” … a maneuver that Elvis actually did many times in his
late concerts. If you were
the least bit tired you might find the rapid, staccato-paced lyrics to
“Promised Land” too great a challenge, but not to Jeff. Rounding out his set was “Burning Love” …
“Moody Blue” … “Polk Salad Annie” and “Fever”. Oh …. Mustn’t forget. Short
of resting in his dressing room after Sunday’s performance… Jeff was back after
intermission to help with the granting of the Festival awards. I’m sure you’ve heard by now, but the Grand
Champion of the 2007 “King of There should have been an “Ultimate Stamina”
award for Jeff Marsh. Written by Nevin Grant Jeff Marsh |
