Elvis wore the full Gold Lame´suit for the first time March 28, 1957 in Chicago. He wore it again March 29, 1957 in St. Louis, and he wore it the third time April 2, 1957 in Toronto. In between these shows and after he would wear the jacket and shoes with black pants. It wasn't created exclusively for the Toronto show. It was featured on the 50,000 FANS CAN’T BE WRONG album cover
He did not care for the suit. It wasn't heavy, he just didn't like it. My guess would be that he thought it was "too much"...if you can imagine!.
